Hi, my name is Tim and I’m a mental health advocate.

As a mental health advocate, my goal is to break the stigma that is associated with mental illness, to change the way people think about those who have a mental illness, and to change the way people think about treatment.

I believe no person who has a mental illness should feel shameful. Just because someone has a mental illness doesn’t mean they are any different. I believe every person, regardless if they have a mental illness or not, should be treated with dignity and respect, shouldn’t be denied the right to treatment, and should be given the same opportunities to succeed.

I’ve changed people’s perspectives on mental illness and what it means to get help. I’ve done this by showing people what is possible even with a mental illness. I know if you meet me, you will not think I struggle with a mental illness. This is because I’ve always put getting help for my illness first. I’m now in recovery.

If you heard my story, you would be filled with hope. Hopeful for your future, for the future of others, and for the future of those who have a mental illness.

As a person who loves to write, I will continue to share my story in order to show people what a person is capable of if the person is willing to accept help. It is only through help that we are able to heal. That, no matter how hard life is, it can always get better. I believe no person should be left behind and that everyone deserves to be happy.
